Pearly penile papules (PPP) appears as whitish, small, shiny bumps that appear around the glans penis and even frenulum area. PPP is not a disease, and is a normal occurance for a 8 to 43 percent of men. PPP usually appear after puberty, and in males who have not been circumcised.

PPP may be mistaken for sexually transmitted diseases, especially genital warts. Therefore it is important to seek professional help before deciding on any further investigation and treatments.

What is PPP?

Medication

Oral medications is a method to reverse erectile dysfunction by enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, a natural chemical your body produces that relaxes muscles in the penis.

Although they work in similar ways, each oral medication has a slightly different chemical makeup. These minor differences affect the way each medication works, such as how quickly it takes effect and wears off, and the potential side effects. Your doctor will consider these factors as well as other conditions you have and possible interactions with other medications you take.

Treatment

The process of radiofrequency removal for PPPs typically involves the following steps:

  1. Consultation: Before undergoing the procedure, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional, to make sure that the lesion is pearly penile papule. If suspected to be other causes, further investigation may be warranted.
  2. Preparation: On the day of the procedure, the treatment area will be cleaned and sterilized. The healthcare professional may apply a local anesthetic to minimize any discomfort during the procedure.
  3. Radiofrequency application: The healthcare professional will use a specialized device that emits radiofrequency energy. The device is carefully applied to each individual pearly penile papule, delivering controlled heat to the targeted tissue. The heat generated by the radiofrequency energy destroys and flattens the papules.
  4. Post-treatment care: After the procedure, the treated area may be sensitive or slightly swollen. The healthcare professional will provide instructions on how to care for the treated area, which may include keeping it clean and avoiding certain activities or irritants until it has healed.
