Testicular inflammation, or orchitis, is the swelling or pain in one or both testes.

Orchitis is usually accompanied by inflammation of the epididymis or epididymitis.

The epididymis is a narrow, tightly-coiled tube that is attached to each of the testicles. Sperm cells move from the testicles into the epididymis, where the sperm will be stored and take time to mature.

Causes of Orchitis:

Epididymitis or orchitis is commonly caused by ascending infections from the urinary tract, such as urinary tract infections (UTIs) or sexually transmitted diseases.

As such, other than testicular swelling and pain, there might be other accompanying symptoms, such as painful urination, increased urinary frequency, or symptoms of prostatitis.

In untreated cases of epididymitis/orchitis, it is possible for pus to accumulate and lead to the formation of a testicular abscess. In such cases, the patient may exhibit more severe symptoms such as fever and lethargy, or even warrant hospitalization.

There are other causes for epididymitis/orchitis, however less common.

The other causes are blocked urethra, recent catheter use, mumps, or medications such as ‘Amiodarone’.

Treatment would rely on suspicion.

Medication

Oral medications is a method to reverse erectile dysfunction by enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, a natural chemical your body produces that relaxes muscles in the penis.

Although they work in similar ways, each oral medication has a slightly different chemical makeup. These minor differences affect the way each medication works, such as how quickly it takes effect and wears off, and the potential side effects. Your doctor will consider these factors as well as other conditions you have and possible interactions with other medications you take.
